A solar system in VoltView is one array on one site: panels plus inverter(s), identified by the OEM or installer monitoring portal. v1 is generation data only. We do not change inverter settings.

What you get

Once a system is connected and mapped to a site: When the site also has half-hourly import (and, if it exists, export) meter data, VoltView derives: Derived figures are labelled as derived. They are not a substitute for a settlement meter. Interval alignment and the difference between a register index and billed kWh are in Electricity meters and Energy and power.

Connect

Preferred order:
  1. OEM API token from the monitoring portal (SolarEdge API key, SMA developer key, and so on).
  2. Read-only portal user that VoltView uses to pull the same series the dashboard shows.
  3. Installer share (the installer invites VoltView or the customer to the site in their portal).
  4. CSV / Excel export from the portal. This is a one-off or a scheduled dump, not a live feed.
You need the asset owner’s permission in every case. A tenant or offtaker login is not enough if a funder owns the array.

Map to the site

A site can have more than one array. Each array is its own system, mapped to the same or different MPANs.

Ownership

PPA roofs will often show consumption on the customer’s meter and generation in someone else’s portal. VoltView can still show import. It cannot show solar until the owner shares the feed.

Supported in v1

We start with one OEM and add the next when a live site needs it. Enphase is mostly microinverters on smaller roofs. We will not pretend it is a C&I default. If the inverter brand is unknown, get the installer name and the portal URL before promising a connector. Do not assume SolarEdge.

What we do not do yet

  • Control, curtailment, or firmware.
  • Building a generation figure from the import meter alone.
  • Treating a PPA offtake invoice as generation data.
  • A public “every OEM” coverage list. The table above is the list.

Checks after first pull

  1. Capacity on the asset matches the commissioning sheet (kWp).
  2. First day’s generation is in a plausible range for the roof, not zero and not above capacity × daylight hours.
  3. Intervals line up with the import MPAN (same timezone, same settlement clock).
  4. If there is an export MPAN, export ≤ generation on each interval.
